The preparations went really well and you could see everyone putting in the hard work. It will be different conditions to what we are accustomed to. We have a three-day warm-up game to get acclimatised and take it from there.”West Indies will play three Tests, five one-dayers and a Twenty20 international on the Sri Lanka tour, which begins with a warm-up match at the SSC in Colombo on November 10.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah may already have his mind set on joining Real Madrid instead of signing a new deal, according to former top flight striker Frank McAvennie.

The Lowdown: Salah’s future still undecided

The 29-year-old’s future is an ongoing talking point, having been unable to agree terms over a new deal at Anfield in recent months.

Salah’s current contract expires at the end of next season, meaning Liverpool either risk losing him this summer in a big-money exit, or next year for free.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the Egyptian, who was named the FWA Footballer of The Year on Friday, following a stunning individual season that has seen him score 22 Premier League goals to date.

The Latest: McAvennie drops fresh claim

Speaking to Football Insider, 62-year-old McAvennie claimed that he’s heard Madrid may already be on Salah’s mind – something that is no doubt concerning from a Liverpool perspective:

“I don’t know about Salah staying at Liverpool. I saw somewhere he’s made up his mind wanting to go to Real Madrid, that’s what people are saying.

“That’s the rumour and it makes sense if he doesn’t want to sign this new deal. If it’s not about the money then why hasn’t he signed? Because you can bet Liverpool are offering him loads of money.

“Real Madrid is the club you read about and a lot of players want to move there. If Salah wants to do that then Klopp staying makes absolutely no difference, as brilliant as it is for the club.”

The Verdict: Surely he stays now?

While anyone of a Liverpool persuasion won’t want to feel too confident about Salah’s future, a move to Madrid instead of signing a new deal would now be a big surprise.

The fact that Jurgen Klopp has extended his stay at Anfield should be a huge reason for the forward doing the same, with any top club outside of England arguably a step down at the moment, in terms of quality and trophies.

Salah still feels likely to sign on the dotted line in the near future, although if that failed to materialise and he left in the summer, it would be an enormous blow, considering his status as an undoubted all-time Reds great now, following 155 goals in 247 matches overall.

Anderson suffered a heavy blow to the ribs during one of the sessions and sustained a fracture.The Germany trip was criticised by many, who felt the players needed a rest after a draining summer but the England management insisted the trip should go ahead.Anderson was England’s leading wicket-taker in the Test series against Pakistan with 23 wickets at 13.73 from the four matches. He impressed with a new-found control and had appeared to make genuine progress under England’s new bowling coach David Saker.England’s fast-bowling replacement options for the Ashes are Ajmal Shahzad and Chris Tremlett. Kalvin Phillips’ future at Leeds United is unlikely to be resolved until the summer, according to The Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old made a welcome return on the weekend, coming on in the second half of Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Southampton at Elland Road, and he is now in contention to start against Watford on Saturday.

The Daily Mail’s Simon Jones shared a story on Phillips late on Monday night, name-checking West Ham, Villa and Newcastle with interest.

The report claimed that Phillips is in the process of changing agents and that talks over the next stage of his career are unlikely to take place until that is finalised.

The Verdict: Worrying for Leeds…

June was named as a possible date for Phillips’ future to be resolved, which could be a worry for the Whites. You’d expect that they would have hoped to have tied down their star midfielder to a new deal before the current season comes to an end.

That doesn’t look likely now, which will give the three interested Premier League suitors fresh hope of luring him from Elland Road under a new representative.

Hopefully Leeds will remain in the Premier League and build a team around Phillips going forward, but it seems as if Whites fans may have to sweat a little longer when it comes to the midfielder’s future.
