Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch confirmed to talkSPORT on Tuesday that Junior Firpo was expected to make a return to training.

The Lowdown: Firpo’s absence

The American, who told talkSPORT that he inherited a Whites squad which had been ‘over-trained’, lost Firpo to a serious knee injury in just his second game in charge.

The left-back hasn’t been seen since the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa, with Leeds picking up 10 points from a possible 12 during that time.

Stuart Dallas has filled in for Firpo during those four matches, but it looks as if the summer signing could be in line for a return when Leeds travel to Crystal Palace on April 25.

Speaking live on talkSPORT, Marsch was quizzed about the injury issues at the club.

He confirmed on air that Firpo was ‘likely to be in training’ on Tuesday and took the blame for Patrick Bamford’s setback against Wolves last month.

The Verdict: Good news for Leeds

Leo Hjelde also returned to the squad against Watford last time out, so Firpo’s availability for the run-in will bolster Marsch’s defensive options even further, which can only be viewed as yet more good news for the manager.

The 25-year-old hasn’t had the best of debut seasons at Elland Road, missing 13 Premier League games throughout the season and receiving more yellow cards than any other Leeds player.

However, he has shown his quality in stages during his first year in England, posting the squad’s joint-third best tackling average, so hopefully he can remain fully fit under Marsch going into the American’s first full season in charge at Elland Road.

Netherlands fast bowler Mark Jonkman has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action during the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 tournament. Jonkman will have to undergo testing within 21 days and, if necessary, remedial action. However, he will be allowed to continue bowling in international cricket until the results are out.Jonkman, who missed the third-place play-off against Afghanistan on Saturday after taking 10 wickets in five matches, was reported by on-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Buddhi Pradhan after the final group match against Ireland.In their official report, the umpires said: “When Netherlands took the field for the first innings of the match with Ireland batting, Mark Jonkman bowled in two spells, one from each end, and we were both able to observe his bowling action from square leg. With the naked eye we have concerns with the legitimacy of Mark’s bowling action in general and consider it worthy of report under current ICC regulations.”Jonkman is now required to submit to an independent analysis of his bowling action which will be conducted by a member of the ICC panel of human movement specialists. If he is found to have bowled with an illegal action during the independent analysis then he will be suspended from bowling in international cricket until he undertakes remedial action and is reassessed.

Na próxima quarta-feira, na abertura do returno o América enfrenta o Resende no Giulite Coutinho e o Bonsucesso recebe o Goytacaz.

E esta reunião está marcada. Acontecerá neste fim de semana, no Rio de Janeiro, onde a expectativa é pela decisão se o contrato em vigor entre o atleta e o clube, válido até o fim deste ano, será cumprido ou rescindido.

A tendência é a de que o contrato seja rescindido. Luis Fabiano não tem uma sequência desde o início do segundo semestre de 2017 por conta de constantes problemas de lesões no joelho. O jogador foi operado duas vezes pelo médico René Abdalla, em São Paulo.
Nomes da cúpula do Vasco estão dialogando internamente no sentido de dar mais agilidade para uma definição, forma com qual o clube poderá voltar as atenções ao mercado para reforçar o setor de olho na Conmebol Libertadores.

Caso a rescisão de Luis Fabiano com o Vasco seja confirmada, a tendência porém é a de que o atacante ainda não se aposente no futebol. O Fabuloso está junto com a família em São Paulo em trabalho de recuperação e tem o desejo de terminar a carreira no campo de jogo. Publicamente, o médico responsável por suas cirurgias já declarou neste sentido.

أصدر نادي أوساسونا بيانًا رسميًا قبل مواجهة برشلونة بعد الأحداث المؤسفة التي وقعت من قبل الجماهير.

ويحل برشلونة ضيفًا على أوساسونا بملعب “أل سادار” ضمن منافسات الدوري الإسباني “الليجا”.

وشهدت جماهير الألتراس لبرشلونة أحداثا عنيفة ظهر اليوم في بامبلونا، قبل ساعات من المباراة التي سيلعبها البارسا ضد أوساسونا، والتي أصيب فيها العديد من الجرحى.

وفقًا لصحيفة “سبورت” الإسبانية، في حانة يرتادها أنصار أوساسونا، وقع هجوم أصيب فيه ثلاثة أشخاص وكان لا بد من نقلهم إلى مستشفى جامعة نافارا.

وتضمن بيان أوساسونا: “يدين نادي أوساسونا بشدة الأحداث العنيفة التي ارتكبها ألتراس نادي برشلونة بعد ظهر اليوم في بامبلونا”.

مضيفًا: “وبالمثل، يعرب الكيان عن تضامنه مع المتضررين، ويصدق النادي على معارضته الكاملة لأي إشارة على العنف والعنصرية وكراهية الأجانب وعدم التسامح في الرياضة ويعرب عن أمله في أن تستمر مباراة الليلة بشكل طبيعي مطلق”.

Manchester United dropped two points against Southampton at Old Trafford, a third draw for Ralf Rangnick’s side in their last five games, leaving them outside the top four in the Premier League.

The Red Devils took the lead when Jadon Sancho scored in the 21st minute, but it wasn’t enough to hold on for victory as Che Adams who found the back of the net in the early second half exchanges.

In the second half, United struggled to hold off Southampton, with Armando Broja and Adam Armstrong battering David de Gea with chances in an attempt to take all three points from their lacklustre opponents. The match ended with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side now only shipping one defeat in their last ten games.

The home side squandered yet another lead this season, lost possession 137 times and had fewer shots than Southampton according to SofaScore, which ultimately cost them their opportunity to take all three points from the game.

Clearly, there were a number of issues on the pitch when you look at the aforementioned statistics, and one player who failed to make much of an impact was Marcus Rashford.

Despite delivering an assist for Sancho’s goal, the 24-year-old made little impact on the game and failed to offer enough in his position to secure victory for his team.

According to SofaScore, he gave away possession 21 times (once every two touches), lost seven of his 11 duels – allowing Southampton to have more of the ball – and failed with 60% of his dribbles. Rangnick finally took Rashford off the pitch in the 82nd minute, ending his disasterclass as he made way for Jesse Lingard to see out the game.

The £180k-p/w star has been under scrutiny this season over his lack of end product and link-up play with his attacking team-mates, with just five goals and one assist in 19 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign. He was also criticised by former United assistant coach Steve McClaren, who claimed that the 24-year-old “gets deterred too easily and doesn’t fight through bad moments”.

Rangnick will be feeling the pressure as top-four rivals Arsenal, West Ham and Tottenham all play tomorrow, and United could find themselves pushed further away from Champions League qualification if they all secure victory this weekend. In that context, Rashford’s insipid performance today could prove rather costly.
