The France international was asked about PSG's place in his club history, comparing it to Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona. While he called Messi the "greatest player of all time", he could not bring himself to say which team was better.

He told reporters: "I don't know if this PSG is the best team I've played for, because I played at Barça with Lionel Messi, who for me is the greatest player of all time. But it's one of the teams where I have the most fun."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
During Dembele's spell at Barcelona (2017-2023), they won three La Liga titles and the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana twice – but never won the Champions League. PSG are one of the favourites to become champions of Europe this season so perhaps this question should be asked at the end of the campaign.

M Vijay last played competitive cricket in the 2020 IPL•BCCI
M Vijay will return to action after almost two years, in the 20-overs Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) which kicks off on June 23.Vijay’s last competitive game was for Chennai Super Kings, against Delhi Capitals, in IPL 2020 in Dubai. He has since not played the two IPL editions, the TNPL 2021, or any domestic tournament for his state side, Tamil Nadu.Related

TNPL, strong leadership mould Tamil Nadu into dominant T20 force
Shahrukh: 'Even if I only play five balls, there's a process to it'
In the lead-up to TNPL 2022, Vijay, 38, said that he had taken a break for personal reasons and that he now wants to relish whatever cricket he plays.”I want to play as long as possible. Just took a personal break,” Vijay said at a TNPL event in Chennai earlier this week. “I have a young family and wanted to take care of them. I’m enjoying my cricket now and I’m feeling fit, hopefully, I can do my bit for my team and TNPL.”It was difficult for me personally because I wanted to play but I had injuries and my personal life was going at a fast pace. I wanted to slow it down and see where I was standing as an individual. I wanted to reflect on myself and that’s why I felt that [a] break was required and needed for me at that particular time. TNCA has understood that and they’ve given me this beautiful platform to come back and play the game.”Vijay last represented India in the 2018 Perth Test and Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy in December 2019. Vijay emphasised that he hasn’t set any personal goals and wants to “enjoy” his return.”The two-year break was to reflect on the exact point you are saying [India comeback],” Vijay said. “At the end of the day, you have to be realistic with your targets. I pretty much don’t have any aim at the moment. I just want to play cricket and enjoy this phase of my life at this point and see where it takes me, with the help of TNCA.”Vijay will turn out for Ruby Trichy Warriors, led by Rahil Shah, in this TNPL. In the previous season, a bunch of youngsters carried the side to the final, where they lost to Chepauk Super Gillies. Vijay sees himself playing some sort of a mentorship role at Trichy.”Just go out there and perform and make use of the opportunity. How many ever youngsters I can help out and be with them – that’s going to be my role in this team in TNPL,” Vijay said. “That’s what I’m looking forward for – to rub shoulders with the youngsters and talk the way they can understand and see where they are and contribute to TNPL.”Vijay credited the TNPL for transforming Tamil Nadu into a dominant force in white-ball cricket. The league’s most recent breakout star B Sai Sudharsan made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans earlier this year and won the title with them.”Definitely, yes. T20 format… started it in 2006 or 2007, we [Tamil Nadu] were the champions that edition and from thereon, we never looked back in T20s,” Vijay said. “We constantly performed well. TNPL, as I’ve told before, it’s a gift for Tamil Nadu cricketers. It’s about how we use it and express ourselves in the middle. It has definitely helped all youngsters I feel; six-seven of them are playing in IPL right now and India through the TNPL. The way they’ve played got them high attention, so this is an amazing tournament and I hope the efforts are being used by the boys and go climb it, man. Go big from Tamil Nadu.”This season’s TNPL will be held in Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Coimbatore, and Salem, with the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai currently undergoing renovation, ahead of a potential homecoming for MS Dhoni’s Super Kings in the next IPL.Varun Chakravarthy will also return to action in TNPL 2022•TNPL

Left-arm seamer T Natarajan, too, is unlikely to start the tournament, for Lyca Kovai Kings, as he is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.M Shahrukh Khan, who was recently part of India’s white-ball squad as a reserve batter, however, is available for Kovai Kings.Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who recently had a horror IPL stint with Kolkata Knight Riders, will look to prove his form and fitness for Madurai Panthers, under coach Sriram Krishnamurthy, who is also the assistant coach at Northern Districts in New Zealand domestic cricket.Another mystery spinner who could grab eyeballs this season is Kovai Kings’ B Surya who had bowled in the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s nets in IPL 2022.
Only 19 overs possible on final day as Lancashire consolidate top-three placing
ECB Reporters Network29-Jun-2022Miles Hammond and James Bracey batted Gloucestershire towards safety before rain wiped out the last two sessions of the LV= County Championship match with Lancashire at the Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol.Only 19 overs were possible at the start of the final day, which began with the home side precariously placed on 99 for three in their second innings, just 34 runs ahead.Overnight pair Hammond and Bracey negotiated them with few alarms on the placid pitch, both reaching half-centuries in taking the score to 176 for three by the time rain started to fall at 12.20pm.Hammond was unbeaten on 58 and Bracey 55 when play ceased. An early lunch was taken, and play almost restarted at 2.05pm, with umpires and teams ready to take the field. But more rain started to fall and became heavier, to the frustration of the groundstaff, who had been on and off with the covers.Umpires Rob Bailey and Neil Pratt abandoned any prospect of further play at 3.10pm.Lancashire took 14 points from the drawn contest to consolidate their position in the top three of the First Division, while Gloucestershire’s 12 points (they had one deducted for a slow over-rate) left them still occupying bottom place. The hosts have still not won a Championship game this season in eight attempts, but will take some comfort from having competed well in a closely-fought contest.Bracey, eager to overcome a poor run of form stretching back to the second match of the Championship campaign, was positive from the outset, cover-driving the opening delivery of the day from Will Williams for four.Unbeaten on 14 overnight, the England player was the first to his fifty, having faced 90 balls and hit seven boundaries.Fellow left-hander Hammond followed suit in the same over, bowled by Jack Morley, having just dispatched the spinner over long-on for six.His half-century occupied 124 deliveries and also featured five fours. But the time the rain came, Gloucestershire were 111 ahead and, with precious little assistance in the pitch for the bowlers, a draw looked the only likely outcome.
Wade was given out lbw off Maxwell and reviewed thinking he’d hit it – but Ultra Edge did not show a significant spike

Glenn Maxwell dismissed Matthew Wade, who wasn’t happy with the lbw decision•BCCI
Gujarat Titans’ Matthew Wade has been reprimanded by the match referee for his outburst after being dismissed. The Titans batter immediately reviewed an lbw call when given out off the bowling of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Glenn Maxwell. Replays suggested there might have been a deflection when the ball passed Wade’s bat. The commentators – Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith and Simon Doull – were convinced Wade had hit the ball.Ultra Edge, though, showed little evidence of it. There was a smidgeon, an extremely brief murmur, on the straight line of the audio signature, but that was not considered significant enough to overturn an on-field decision.Wade looked flabbergasted that the technology didn’t back him up. He walked off shaking his head. Upon reaching the dressing room, he was seen angrily throwing his bat and helmet around. After the match, he admitted to the offence and was let off with a reprimand. As per a statement from the IPL, it was a Level 1 offence, under Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct. His captain Hardik Pandya did not seek to carry on about the decision. “I think it was a slight… on Ultra Edge it was there, right?” Pandya said at the post-match press conference. “I don’t know from the big screen it was not (clearly) visible. You can’t fault (anyone). If the technology is not helping, I don’t know who’s going to help. Obviously it is nothing personal from anybody. Most of the time it works and most of the time the right decision is taken.”Although Titans went on to lose the match by eight wickets, they had already secured a place in the top two, which gives them two shots at making the final should they lose the first qualifier. Pandya said he was proud that his side had kept finding different match-winners in different matches of the league stages.
Leicestershire’s Ed Barnes bags five as visitors lose their last six first-innings wickets for 27
ECB Reporters Network23-Apr-2022Derbyshire are within reach of a first victory of the LV= Insurance County Championship season after Leicestershire finished day three at the Uptonsteel County Ground six wickets down in their second innings and still 172 behind.Leicestershire seamer Ed Barnes took five wickets in an innings for the first time earlier in the day as Derbyshire lost their last six first-innings wickets for 27.But after a maiden century from Mattie McKiernan enhanced the value of Shan Masood’s superb double-hundred on Friday, Derbyshire still totalled 531 for a lead of 318.It left Leicestershire, who had to fight rearguard actions to emerge with a draw from both of their opening Division Two matches, faced with surviving two sessions just to take the contest into the final day. They succeeded in that but it will need an extraordinary effort from their tail to avoid defeat this time. The morning belonged to McKiernan and latterly to Barnes, the Leicestershire seam bowler, whose dismissal of McKiernan launched an extraordinary spell within a spell that brought him all of his five wickets in the space of 26 deliveries at a cost of just eight runs.McKiernan, a 27-year-old legspinner who spent more than 12 years at Lancashire without making a senior appearance, has played more white-ball cricket than red since joining Derbyshire in 2018 but that should soon be corrected on this evidence. After playing an important role as one of double-centurion Masood’s partners on Friday, sharing a stand of 129 for the fourth wicket, McKiernan cut Callum Parkinson’s left-arm spin for three fours before moving into the 90s by pulling Barnes for six. His century came off 189 balls and contained 11 fours as well as that six.Against a Leicestershire attack in which Will Davis could not participate because of injury, McKiernan and Leus Du Plooy took Derbyshire’s first-innings total beyond 500 for the second successive match – and in consecutive innings for only the second time in the county’s history – but when Barnes thudded one into McKiernan’s front pad to have him leg before, the narrative of the morning changed dramatically.Barnes, who was nought for 93 before umpire Neil Bainton granted him this success, dismissed Anuj Dal lbw and had Alex Thomson caught behind from consecutive balls, before Nick Potts chopped on and Sam Conners was bowled. His final analysis read 5 for 101 but his 10-over spell on the day was worth 5 for 28.After Parkinson wrapped up the innings on the stroke of lunch when Suranga Lakmal chipped him straight to short midwicket, Derbyshire made important inroads before tea as opener Hassan Azad and Leicestershire skipper Colin Ackermann both fell, along with George Rhodes.Thomson accounted for Azad, the off-spinner’s turning delivery finding a thin outside edge that turned into a looping catch to Wayne Madsen at slip, seemingly via the left glove of wicketkeeper Brooke Guest. He then bowled Rhodes before the introduction of Dal’s medium pace induced a miscued drive from Ackermann that went straight to short cover.A stubborn 33 from Sam Evans ended when he was leg before to Sam Conners and Wiaan Mulder’s rather more entertaining 25 was terminated by the same method by the 19-year-old Potts, then Thomson held a stunning low return catch to remove Harry Swindells, with Louis Kimber 33 not out at the close.
Chelsea have spent plenty of money investing in all positions of the pitch since their new ownership took charge, looking to refresh their ageing squad and cut the wage bill significantly, changing their strategy to acquiring the most talented young players in world football.
One area the Blues have targeted heavily is the winger department, looking to sign young and exciting wide prospects, hoping they can become the next big thing. Since their takeover, Chelsea have made six clear winger signings, and this is without including hybrid wingers such as Cole Palmer and João Félix, who prefer to play centrally.
New signing this summer, Pedro Neto, who joined from Wolves for around £51.4m plus £2.6m add-ons, has already made 16 appearances for the Blues, scoring three goals and providing three assists in his 907 minutes.
But, Chelsea could still be interested in more young wide talents, as links are emerging ahead of the upcoming transfer windows for another talented winger, who is most commonly deployed on the left.
LaLiga star could head to Chelsea
According to reports from The Athletic, Chelsea remain interested in Athletic Bilbao star, Nico Williams, who seemed set on joining Barcelona last summer, before deciding to stay put.
However, as Barcelona wingers are finding form, David Ornstein reports that Barcelona would not be there for Williams, leaving the door open to a Premier League move.
Other interested clubs are said to be Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Tottenham, so the fight for the the Spanish “pace demon”, as dubbed by presenter Adam Keys, could be a big one. His release clause is around €55m (£46m), so it is likely the biggest hurdle would be personal terms for the 22-year-old.
Williams has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Athletic this season, scoring two goals, providing five assists, and totalling 1,298 minutes.
If the Spanish winger was signed by Chelsea, it could spell the end for big-money signing, Mykhailo Mudryk, as both players want to fight for that left-wing spot.

Williams vs Mudryk comparison
Mudryk is still just 23-years-old, and has made 73 appearances since joining the Blues back in January 2023. The Ukrainian has scored ten goals and provided nine assists in his time at the club, totalling 3,613 minutes on the pitch.
The speedster is having his best season in a Chelsea shirt so far this campaign, scoring three goals and providing five assists in his 850 minutes. Thus, he is clearly knocking on the door for more Premier League starts, and this could well be his last chance to prove himself, especially if the links to Williams are concrete, and something the Blues wish to act upon.

When comparing the pair’s metrics so far in 2024/25, you can see Williams has that extra creative edge, completing more progressive actions per 90, having a higher shot volume, making more key passes, more shot-creating actions, and completing more successful take-ons.
Williams has an elite creative skillset, a mixture of blistering pace, the ability to downshift when running with the ball to offset opposition defenders, and the quality in his final ball to pick players out in the box and create big chances.
Spain star Nico Williams
If Mudryk can take his chance, continue to add extra output with his actions, and consistently deliver, then the Blues may decide Williams isn’t needed.
However, if by the end of this season Mudryk still hasn’t shown enough, the Spanish winger could be the next attacking talent through the door at Chelsea.
Their answer to Odegaard: Chelsea keen on signing "world-class" £42m star
Chelsea could be about to make a move for a huge European talent.
The season of 2023/24 was quite a remarkable one for Chelsea who under the noisy reign of Todd Boehly spent an enormous sum of £386.5m, bringing new 12 players to the club.
In order to spend this sum of money, the Blues also had to make £231.6m worth of sales, with 14 players leaving the club on a permanent basis.
Midfield was a key area of investment, with Moises Caicedo, Roméo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu joining the club, just six months after also signing Enzo Fernández from Benfica, strengthening that defensive midfield spot.

But it’s in the attacking midfield that Chelsea got their best bargain of the summer, signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City for a fee of around £40m (plus £2.5m add-ons).
Cole Palmer's remarkable rise at Chelsea
In Palmer’s first season at the club, he beat all expectations that were placed on him following his move from City, scoring a simply ludicrous haul of 25 goals and providing 15 assists in 45 games. His first season at the club saw the Englishman play a mixture of right-wing and attacking midfield.
The 22-year-old has started this season in the same rich vein of form, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in his 13 games played.
Under Enzo Maresca, Palmer is now being primarily used as the number ten, with added build-up responsibilities, and a license to roam and pick up the ball in different areas on the pitch.
Cole Palmer in-article graphic
However, Chelsea are being linked with a move for a very talented attacking midfielder, which could see Palmer shift back to the right-wing, in order to get both into the same side.
Chelsea want to sign exciting attacking midfielder
According to reports from French outlet Foot Mercato, Rayan Cherki’s asking price has now been revealed. Amid interest from Chelsea, the Lyon attacking midfielder is likely to cost around £29m.
Liverpool are also reported to be interested in the talented Frenchman, which could spark a bidding war between the two.

The 21-year-old, who is said to bring “Eden Hazard vibes” by Sky Sports’ Dougie Critchley, has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season, scoring two goals, providing three assists, and totalling 614 minutes of action.
So, how does he compare to Palmer and why is it worth moving the Englishman’s position on the pitch to accommodate Cherki?

As we can see, Cherki is an extremely creative number ten type, averaging a whopping 8.38 progressive passes and 3.97 key passes per 90, doing much of his best work in “zone 14” (the term used to describe the central area outside the 18-yard-box).
By shifting Palmer over to the right side, and starting Cherki as the number ten, Chelsea would have two of the best pocket players in the league at their disposal, receiving between the lines, and creating chances for their fellow forwards.
However, off-ball work and defensive schemes would possibly suffer, as neither player are too well known for their pressing work.
Maresca would have other problems to solve to make this work in his off-ball set-ups, but the prospect of a Palmer and Cherki central duo at times (Palmer drifting inside from the right) is a mouth-watering one, and one that other Premier League sides would be extremely worried about when defending.

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane believes the atmosphere at Ipswich Town has softened after a tough start on the pitch, taking away a huge part of what usually makes promoted teams tough to beat.
The Tractor Boys will have been expecting a difficult start to life in the Premier League, and it has certainly been that, as they are still yet to pick up their first win of the league season. Kieran McKenna’s side sit on four points, one place above the relegation zone.
Ipswich ace who played just eight games on loan is now better than Delap
Ipswich Town never got the best out of this star before he then exploded into life.
ByKelan Sarson Oct 24, 2024 Ipswich Town news and updates
One player who has been fairly regular in the Ipswich side this season is Kalvin Phillips, as he looks to get his career back on track while on loan at Portman Road. The midfielder has played five times in the league this season, but a report has now emerged that Ipswich chiefs are not happy with Phillips’ condition. They are “amazed” by his lack of mobility and running power, while insiders say his fitness is nowhere near Premier League level.
Meanwhile, despite Ipswich’s struggles this season, it hasn’t stopped top Premier League teams from keeping an eye on their best players. Ipswich signed Liam Delap in the summer, and he has done rather well in the early months of his career at the club, so much so that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Delap.
The Tractor Boys are said to have an asking price of 40 million euros (£33.3 million), as Arsenal, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and former club Manchester City are also interested. Ipswich will be hoping Delap can be among the goals more often as they look to get their first win under their belt, but Roy Keane believes the fans can also play their part.
Roy Keane reacts to Ipswich's tough start
Speaking on the latest episode of Stick to Football podcast, relayed by the East Anglian Daily Times, Roy Keane believes lack of energy from Ipswich Town fans is an issue after such a tricky start. The former Town manager fears for the Tractor Boys this season, as they look destined to struggle in the top flight.
Keane, who managed Ipswich between 2009 and 2011, thinks his former club and Southampton will both be relegated this season. He states that seeing the lack of energy from the crowd at Portman Road could be a factor in their struggles, as home games are supposed to be massive opportunities for sides near the bottom of the table.
“I fear for Southampton and Ipswich with relegation this season. Even when they are struggling, the energy of the crowd keeps you going in the first few weeks, but even that is looking like it’s going already.
Ipswich 0-2 Liverpool
Ipswich 1-1 Fulham
Ipswich 2-2 Aston Villa
Ipswich 0-2 Everton
“When the defeats are getting to you each week, they’re starting to look physically smaller than their opposition. Even Everton going down to Ipswich last weekend and getting a result, I bet that Ipswich saw that as a good opportunity of getting three points and would have been thoroughly disappointed.”
Ipswich are not back at Portman Road until next weekend, as they face a tricky tie away at Brentford on Saturday, a match that McKenna will hope will be where they pick up their first win of the league season.
