Man Utd Could Swoop For £78 Million Star

Manchester United will have Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani among their list of striking targets; however, they are likely to favour moves for Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, says journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

What's the latest transfer news involving Randal Kolo Muani?

As per 90min, Eintracht Frankfurt have slapped a price tag worth €90 million (£78 million) on the head of Kolo Muani heading into the summer amid interest from around Europe in his services.

Several high-profile sides are said to be keen on signing the 24-year-old, including Manchester United, Napoli, Barcelona, Newcastle, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

The Independent have reported that Bayern Munich 'believe they have everything in place' to acquire Kolo Muani in the off-season and could be willing to pay around £100 million to prize him away from Deutsche Bank Park.

Manchester United are also keen on other striking targets, with Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen both having been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

According to The Manchester Evening News, Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund, Ajax attacker Mohamed Kudus and Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos have also been weighed up by Erik Ten Hag.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Sheth thinks that Kolo Muani will be one of many targets Manchester United have in mind to strengthen their forward line.

Sheth said: "Obviously, there will be targets which are of more priority than others, like Harry Kane, like Victor Osimhen. But players under the radar, like Muani, I wouldn't be surprised if United are doing their homework on these players.

"We keep talking about this takeover, or proposed takeover or proposed investment. I think that's going to dictate what United can do, and I think they really need to have that sorted one way or another so that they can know whether they can go for a Kane or an Osimhen or whether they're going to have to go for a player that doesn't cost as much. But 100%, United will be looking at a number of players in that position, for sure."

Would Randal Kolo Muani be a good signing for Manchester United?

Kolo Muani is an excellent centre-forward and his numbers in front of the target have been commendable, with the 24-year-old registering 21 goals and 15 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

WhoScored also notes that Kolo Muani has gained an average match rating of 7.22/10 for his exploits on the pitch in 2022/23, statistically making him Eintracht Frankfurt's most consistent performer.

The France international has also managed to provide 102 shot-creating actions this term, illustrating his ability to be a productive focal point in attack for the Bundesliga outfit, as per FBRef.

With Manchester United in the market for a new number nine this summer, Kolo Muani would fit the bill as a statement signing as Ten Hag looks to transform his side into Premier League title challengers in 2023/24.

£12k-p/w Enforcer Could Be Dream Partner For Rangers Star

Glasgow Rangers head coach Michael Beale is seemingly in the market to bolster his squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign after a disappointing season at Ibrox.

The Light Blues have already been knocked out of all the domestic and European cup competitions that they were involved in and are 13 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table with five games left to play.

This means that the Gers are on course to end the season without a single trophy to show for their efforts despite sacking manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst in favour of Beale to rescue their campaign during the World Cup break last year.

The English boss has been unable to bring success in terms of silverware this term but the summer transfer window will now provide him with an opportunity to improve his team with a view to competing in 2023/24.

One player who has been linked with a move to Glasgow is Aston Villa central midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, who is currently out on loan at Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship, and he could be the dream partner for Nicolas Raskin at Ibrox.

Beale signed the England youth interview for QPR at the start of the season and worked with him during his time with Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa, with the boss now eyeing either a loan or permanent swoop this summer.

How has Iroegbunam performed this season?

The 19-year-old has been a solid operator in the Championship and displayed his qualities as a defensive workhorse in the middle of the park, which could allow Raskin to thrive in Scotland.

He has averaged 2.8 tackles and interceptions per game, winning 50% of his duels, and this shows that the £12k-per-week ace regularly cuts out opposition attacks with his aggression and anticipation.

Iroegbunam has also chipped in with two goals and one assist whilst creating 0.6 chances per game for QPR and has the potential to contribute in the final third, with boss Gareth Ainsworth claiming the teen "glides past people".

Last season, the youngster made three appearances for Villa in the Premier League and caught the eye with 2.4 tackles and interceptions and a duel success rate of 80%, which proved that he can handle himself physically at the top level.

By comparison, Raskin has only created 0.1 chances per match across seven Premiership outings since joining the Gers in January but managed 1.1 key passes per outing and created four 'big chances' in 16 games for Standard Liege during the first half of the campaign.

His form in Belgium showed that the midfielder has the quality to be a creative threat from the middle of the park and thus, bringing in an energetic and defensive-minded machine in the form of Iroegbunam could allow the 22-year-old to step forward and make things happen in possession.

Instead of being tied down to defensive duties, Raskin could use the shield that the Villa teen may provide to use his qualities on the ball to split open defences and create opportunities for the club's forwards.

Therefore, Iroegbunam could be a dream partner for the Belgian talent next season.

41 y/o Makes Major Arsenal Admission

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has been left shocked after Mikel Arteta admitted his Arsenal team were "too comfortable" in their recent draw.

What did Arteta say after the Arsenal match?

It was a hugely disappointing afternoon for the Gunners on Sunday as their hopes of winning the Premier League took a big blow.

Things started to so well for the north London side as they raced to a two-goal lead against West Ham United after just ten minutes.

Indeed, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard fired Arsenal ahead but Arteta's men seemed to lose focus and Said Benrahma netted a penalty to get his side back into the game.

In the second half, Bukayo Saka then missed a penalty only minutes before Jarrod Bowen scored to level the game at 2-2.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Arteta seemed to admit his team were complacent, saying: "I think so. Too comfortable just playing around them. And when a team is there [for the taking], you have to take that opportunity. We gave them hope.

When talking on BBC Radio Show 606, Sutton seemed surprised that the 41-year-old manager would accept that.

Indeed, the pundit explained (1:00): "Last couple of games they've let two-goal leads slip, haven't they? And oh look, It's so disappointing.

"What I thought was interesting. Did you hear the Arteta interview, he said they were too comfortable.

"I cannot believe he said that.”

Have Arsenal bottled the league?

Seeing as the Gunners also were 2-0 up at Anfield last week but were pegged back by Liverpool and saw that game end 2-2 as well, it's been a frustrating period for the club.

Indeed, as per the official Premier League website, it's the first time Arsenal have given up a two-goal lead in consecutive Premier League matches, making them only the fifth side to do so in the competition's history.

As a result, Arteta and co are now only four points ahead of Manchester City, despite having played one game more than their title rivals.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reacts vs Liverpool

Even so, most fans would have bitten your hand off at the start of the season if they'd been offered the chance to be top of the league with just seven games left to play.

What's more, they've now gone nine league games without losing, winning seven and drawing two – so it's hardly been a collapse.

With that in mind, however, things finish, the season should be considered as a campaign where Arsenal have greatly surpassed expectations.

But if they don't win the title, these last two games may well be viewed as turning points.

West Ham United Targeting £7.5k-p/w "Warrior"

West Ham United still cannot be sure which division they will be playing in next season but it seems as if the Hammers are already planning some of their transfer business.

The latest player to be linked with a move to David Moyes' side is Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis, with the centre-back impressing on loan with Burnley in the Championship this term.

Could West Ham sign Taylor Harwood-Bellis?

According to 90min, West Ham are among a number of clubs showing an interest in the 21-year-old, whose contract at the Etihad, where he earns £7.5k-per-week, is set to expire next summer.

While the report claims that City rate the Englishman highly and want to extend his contract further, the academy graduate recognises that he is way down the pecking order in Pep Guardiola's thinking, with world-class centre-backs such as Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones all ahead of him.

Burnley would understandably like to sign the defender permanently in the summer after his starring role in their likely title-winning Championship campaign but will face competition from the Hammers, as well as Newcastle United, Fulham and Brentford.

Should West Ham sign Harwood-Bellis?

This season has seen the youngster make 27 appearances in the second tier for Vincent Kompany's side, contributing one goal and two assists, with a superb 7.15 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Not only is this a better average rating than anyone in West Ham's squad, with Declan Rice the highest rated at the London Stadium with a 6.98 rating from WhoScored, but his return of 1.9 interceptions per game is also unmatched by anyone at the east London club.

Harwood-Bellis has now accumulated 100 senior appearances in his career with City, Stoke, Anderlecht, Burnley and Blackburn Rovers, where he would earn the praise of former manager Tony Mowbray during his loan spell in the 2020/21 campaign.

He said: “Taylor has a defensive instinct, a warrior attitude and he’s someone who wants to win headers and tackles. He wants to engage, he’s composed on the ball and has a lot of really good attributes."

Moyes has worked to improve West Ham's central defensive options in his time at the club and brought Nayef Aguerd to the club last summer, with the Morocco international starting to prove his worth at the London Stadium after a goal and clean sheet in the vital win against Southampton last Sunday.

While his current partner, Kurt Zouma, has been a reliable servant in his time at West Ham, the Frenchman is also far too injury prone and is currently enduring one the worst seasons of his career, averaging a disappointing 6.67 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Now 28, the former Chelsea man cannot be considered a long-term option next to Aguerd due to his injury issues, and Moyes might be better served by bringing in a talented youngster such as Harwood-Bellis instead.

Aston Villa make Tierney transfer approach

Aston Villa have made an enquiry over a possible summer move for Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Lowdown: Villa rumours

Villa were first linked with a move for Tierney earlier this month by Football Insider. They said that Arsenal could green-light a summer sale and value the player at £30m, with the report adding that Villa could be willing to sell Lucas Digne to make room for the Scot.

The 25-year-old appears to have dropped down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta this season following Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival in the summer, starting more games in the Europa League than the Premier League.

Tierney also shares the same agent as Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa, and it looks as if Villa have made their first move ahead of a possible transfer.

The Latest: Jacobs’ comments

Jacobs was talking to TEAMtalk regarding Tierney and Villa. He said that those at Villa Park (by extension both NSWE and sporting director Johan Lange) have made an approach for Tierney.

However, the reporter said he would be ‘surprised’ if the left-back decided to move to the Midlands due to no European football being offered.

“Aston Villa have been a club that have also inquired but I think that Tierney will still want European football. So personally – and it is only my view – I’d be surprised if Tierney drops down to a club in his mid-20s after impressing for Arsenal – let’s not forget last season – that doesn’t offer European football.”

The Verdict: You never know…

Christian Purslow is expecting an ‘extremely busy summer’ ahead of Unai Emery’s first full season in charge, so it wouldn’t come as a shock if Villa followed up their approach by making an offer for Tierney in the summer.

He has been dubbed as an ‘absolute baller’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig, so could prove to be a shrewd signing, even though Emery recently brought in left-back Alex Moreno from Real Betis in the winter window.

The Arsenal man would bring a winning mentality to the Midlands after lifting a number of trophies with boyhood club Celtic and the FA Cup and Community Shield with the Gunners, potentially adding a Premier League winners medal to his collection over the coming months.

Villa have shown recently that they can attract players who are used to European football by signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, so we won’t rule out a move for Tierney just yet, although Villa may have to rival Newcastle United for his signature.

Man City eyeing Kvaratskhelia move

Manchester City and transfer chief Txiki Begiristain are eyeing a move for Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Summer of change looming?

Recently, The Athletic and reliable journalist Sam Lee published an article detailing the futures of every City squad member and their likelihood of leaving in the summer.

Kalvin Phillips and Sergio Gomez were among the players whose departures aren’t totally ruled out with the Premier League champions potentially kickstarting a summer of change at Eastlands.

This comes as Begiristain and manager Pep Guardiola liaise behind-the-scenes at City over who to sign in their stead.

The Latest: Man City eyeing Kvaratskhelia…

It is believed by journalist Ben Jacobs that City are among the sides targeting Napoli star Kvaratskhelia, with Newcastle also displaying an interest.

The Serie A sensation has seriously impressed in Italy’s top flight this campaign, standing out as a star player, and it’s claimed the Blues are eyeing a move.

He will however cost a marquee fee with Jacobs detailing that Kvaratskhelia could command ‘double’ his rumoured £50 million valuation.

The reporter adds that City supporters will know all about talented Georgians given the cult hero status of former favourite Georgi Kinkladze.

The Verdict: Very talented player…

The forward has been called ‘unplayable’ by members of Italy’s press for his exploits over 2022/2023.

As per WhoScored, this tag is well and truly backed up, with Kvaratskhelia sitting just behind star striker Victor Osimhen in terms of best performances by average match rating.

The 22-year-old, who can play attacking midfield, has ten goals and nine assists to his name this season – totalling a very impressive 19 goals contributions domestically.

He also ranks very highly in terms of other attacking stats like attempts at goal, key passes made and completed dribbles per 90 (WhoScored).

In Kvaratskhelia, City supporters could certainly be witnessing a new Kinkladze in the making.

Leeds reporter makes Arne Slot claim

Leeds United correspondent Beren Cross has made an interesting managerial claim on Feyenoord’s Arne Slot.

The Lowdown: Slot speculation

The Whites have been linked with a number of managers in the last ten days, including Slot. An approach was made last week, with Leeds feeling that his intense and aggressive approach would fit in at Elland Road.

However, the Dutch coach, who has won 84 games as a manager, came out and said he would be staying with his current side, with Leeds still on the search for Jesse Marsch’s long-term successor.

The Latest: Cross’ comments

Cross ran a Q&A for LeedsLive on Wednesday, where he was asked a variety of Elland Road questions. When it came to a new manager, the Leeds reporter said the plan is still to find a new coach quickly, adding that Leeds would absolutely get a deal done for someone like Slot if he becomes available.

“The plan remains to find a permanent head coach as soon as possible, whether that’s this month, next month, before the end of the season or in the summer. That depends on when the targets they like become available. For example, if it became clear Feyenoord may be open to letting Slot go in three or four weeks, Leeds would absolutely get that deal done.”

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-updates-copy-2/” title=”Latest Leeds United updates (Copy)” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Verdict: A gamble…

Leeds have decided to leave Michael Skubala in caretaker charge with crucial fixtures against Everton and Southampton coming up, a call which appears to be a big gamble.

The club have been turned down by a number of targets, including Slot, so it could have been a wise move to bring in an experienced interim manager who was out of work on an initial deal until the summer.

We will find out if the risk of keeping Skubala in charge pays off in the coming weeks, but it looks as if a potential move for Slot may not be off just yet.

Arsenal have hit the jackpot on Bukayo Saka

Arsenal have produced their fair share of wonderful talents over the previous 25 years.

The likes of Ashley Cole, who went on to become arguably England’s finest left-back of modern times, Jack Wilshere, and Serge Gnabry have all come through the ranks at Hale End in recent times and enjoyed success either at the Gunners or elsewhere.

Recently, Mikel Arteta has been developing and creating an accessible pathway for youngsters thriving in the academy which will allow them to gain the recognition they deserve and have an opportunity to gain first-team football.

This has given players like Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun the chance to showcase their talents, and the Spaniard must be applauded for his long-term vision.

However, perhaps the finest player to emerge from Hale End in recent years is Bukayo Saka, with the 21-year-old already accumulating more than 150 senior appearances for the north London club and has emerged as not only one of the best players at the club but also in the Premier League, as evident by his form in the current campaign.

Across 20 league appearances this term, Saka has achieved a mesmerising Sofascore rating of 7.29/10, not only ranking him as the third-best performer in the Gunners’ squad but also as the 12th-best in the league as a whole, proving his class.

With 14 goal contributions (seven goals and seven assists) along with creating three big chances, making 2.4 key passes per match and taking 2.1 shots per game, its no wonder that Arsenal are currently five points clear at the top of the table, and the winger hasn’t even hit his peak yet.

His performances of late has seen the player valued at a staggering €110m (£98.5m) by the CIES Football Observatory, and it certainly appears that Arteta has hit the jackpot on the talented Englishman. Although he would love for the youngster to remain at Arsenal and build a team around the him, there are already potential suitors lining up, with Manchester City recently being linked with a move for Saka.

His career could have been at a crossroads at the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign after he missed a penalty in England’s shoot-out defeat to Italy in the final of Euro 2020.

However, he rebounded superbly and Arteta had nothing but praise for the youngster, saying: “That was a big boost for him, to realise: ‘in difficult moments, these people are really going to give me support’ and the club did the same as his team-mates. Then it is about giving him that space. At his age what he is doing is phenomenal.”

If Arsenal manage to win the league this season and qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2016/17, that could be a major boost in their hopes of keeping Saka, a player on whom the club hit the jackpot by granting him a first-team passageway and offering him a platform on which to excel.
