كشفت تقارير صحفية أن المملكة العربية السعودية قد تقترب أخيرًا من الاستحواذ على نادي نيوكاسل يونايتد الإنجليزي بعد فشل تلك الخطوة في وقت سابق.

وسعى صندوق الاستثمارات العامة، وهو صندوق الثروة السيادية السعودي التابع لمحمد بن سلمان ولي العهد، إلى الاستحواذ على نادي نيوكاسل في عام 2020 مقابل 300 مليون جنيه إسترليني.

ولم يتمكن صندوق الاستثمار السعودي من إتمام تلك الصفقة بنجاح في ذلك التوقيت، لعدة أسباب كان على رأسها النزاع بين المملكة العربية السعودية وقنوات بي إن سبورتس القطرية.

ولكن شبكة “بي بي سي” العالمية ذكرت اليوم أن السعودية قد تنجح أخيرًا في إتمام عملية الاستحواذ على نادي نيوكاسل، بعد حل النزاع مع قنوات بي إن سبورتس.

وأوضحت أنه من المقرر أن ترفع السعودية الحظر المفروض على عرض قنوات بي إن سبورتس داخل المملكة، الذي استمر أربع سنوات ونصف، وستتوقف نتيجة لذلك عن عرض مباريات كرة القدم بشكل غير قانوني عبر beoutQ.

وأشارت إلى إنه يتبقى الآن حصول صندوق الاستثمار السعودي على موافقة مسؤولي الدوري الإنجليزي ورابطة البطولة، قبل الاستحواذ على نادي نيوكاسل.

لكن إنهاء شكاوى القرصنة التلفزيونية، والتي من شأنها انتهاك قواعد الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، تزيل عقبة كبيرة.

يلتقي فريق مانشستر يونايتد ظهر اليوم السبت مع خصمه فريق إيفرتون، في بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

ويستضيف ملعب الأولد ترافورد مباراة الفريقين، في الجولة السابعة من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، موسم 2021/22.

ويحتل مانشستر يونايتد حاليًا المركز الرابع في جدول الدوري الإنجليزي برصيد 13 نقطة، متفوقًا على إيفرتون بفارق الأهداف.

Poupando titulares, o Botafogo venceu, mas não impediu o jogo de volta contra o Coruripe, pela primeira fase da Copa do Brasil. A vitória foi magra, por 1 a 0, e teve como responsável direto o atacante Luis Henrique, que balançou a rede na reta final do jogo. Mas o triunfo teve um feito: desde 2009 que o Glorioso não vencia em estreias nas competição, quando passou pelo Dom Pedro (DF), por 2 a 0 – gols de Reinaldo e Jean Carioca.

Agora, o Fogão vai ter que resolver a parada em Los Larios, no dia 28 de abril. O Alvinegro tem a vantagem do empate.

O primeiro tempo teve duas partes. No período pré-chuva, o jogo até que foi animado. O Botafogo começou com um bom ritmo, encurralando o time da casa e só não balançou as redes por causa do nome do jogo. Do nome mais estranho do jogo, o do goleiro do time alagoano: Gottfried Antonio Golz, popularmente chamado de Gott. Dica para quem não tem curso básico de alemão: o apelido significa Deus na língua germânica.

Sem querer blasfemar neste texto, o goleiro foi, de fato, o salvador do Coruripe quando o time estava no “vale da sombra” da derrota. “Mil caíram ao lado, dez mil à direita” e o Coruripe não foi atingido com gol. O time da casa ainda se deu bem porque o árbitro deu uma de cego Bartimeu (antes da cura) e não m pênalti de Thiago Papel em Jean.

Quando o dilúvio começou a cair, na metade do primeiro tempo, o jogo mudou para pior. Os times cometeram vários pecados, gerando irritação na torcida. Erros de passes, bolas mal dominadas, uma série de transgressões às leis do bom futebol.

No segundo tempo, o temporal deu uma trégua. Mas quem disse que o futebol do Botafogo voltou à época pré-diluviana? O time, que entrou muito alterado em relação aos jogos pelo Carioca, passou a capengar, com dificuldades na armação das jogadas e presença no setor ofensivo. A entrada de Ribamar, um dos titulares que estavam sendo poupados, atenuou a situação, ainda que o Coruripe tenha levado perigo em várias lances, especialmente pelas laterais, sem, no entanto, acertar a mira.

Quando o jogo já se encaminhava para um frustrante empate sem gols, o garoto Luis Henrique foi o messias alvinegro. Ele escorou o cruzamento de Diego e partiu para o abraço. Depois disso, não deu tempo para mais nada.

A real Premier League veteran now, Cheikhou Kouyate produced arguably one of his finest performances in a Crystal Palace shirt on Saturday afternoon against Liverpool.The Senegal international has been an ever-present in the top-flight with both West Ham and now Palace, racking up a total of 170 appearances in English football’s top division.This season alone has seen him feature ten times, with the only league games that he has missed coming in the opening two match-days against Everton and Sheffield United respectively when he was on the bench.Against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the weekend, the 29-year-old produced a bull-dozing display, winning seven duels, making four interceptions and providing two key passes.After seeing his fine performance, Palace fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the midfielder.

Many supporters of the side hailed him for having a star showing, with one fan in particular suggesting that it was his best game for the club.

It’s no secret that Chris Wilder and Sheffield United have been doing well this season.

With Wilder being recommended for the Manchester United & Arsenal jobs and the players getting praise from opposition managers, they’ve become one of the feel-good stories of the season.

And according to former Premier League defender Stephen Warnock, it hasn’t come their way by chance.

Although the numbers will show that it’s not really all been down to what Wilder and the players have been doing, some of it falls on their opponents.

What’s he said?

Speaking on Sky Sports News (11am onwards, 11/11), Warnock claimed that Sheffield United are in the position they are now because they deserve to be there.

“It’s not a fluke that they’re getting results it’s a well-oiled system that he’s got, the players believe in what they’re doing and that’s one of the big key factors in a team that performs well. It’s believing what the manager puts out on the pitch. They look at ease away from home as much as they do at home.”

Six of one, half a dozen of the other

Some credit does have to go to Wilder and his men for the way have done so far this season.

They’ve put together arguably one of the better starts to a season by any promoted team but there should still be a little bit of scepticism when it comes to where they are, because they have been incredibly lucky so far this season.

As this table from Experimental361 shows, whilst they may have one of the best defensive records in the league, having only conceded nine times in 13 games, part of that comes from the sheer wastefulness of the teams they’ve been playing.

The table shows that the Blades have been the joint biggest beneficiaries, along with Crystal Palace of missed chances, with 4.5 ‘expected goals’ being wasted by their opponents meaning they should actually be 13th in the table rather than fifth.

It would be a miracle if they manage to keep hold of that sort of luck all season, sooner or later they may get found out, like when they play top scorers Manchester City on 29th December (who have scored more goals than they should based off expected goals), then we’ll really get to see if it’s all down to what they have done rather than what the opponents haven’t.

One of the biggest sensations in European football over the past couple of seasons, Jadon Sancho has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Borussia Dortmund.

The former Manchester City starlet has been running the show over in the Bundesliga, and enjoyed a remarkable season last year by scoring 13 times and providing a further 19 assists across all competitions.

His start to the current campaign has been similarly fruitful, scoring four goals and setting up seven more. It is that kind of form that led to reports earlier this year claiming Manchester United had placed him at the top of their targets list for next summer.

Now, The Daily Mirror have provided an update on their pursuit of the England international by suggesting the Red Devils are ready to meet Dortmund’s transfer demands in order to sign him.

Tottenham have struggled recently and though their problems primarily lie in defence, certain players have underperformed going forward too.

Despite their form dropping off a cliff, Spurs still have 18 goals in 11 games, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, in particular, looking sharp on occasion.

Some fans believe the problem lies with those playing behind them, with many hopeful that Christian Eriksen leaves, such is their animosity towards him and the way he’s playing – with one goal and one assist in 11 appearances.

Instead, many want Lucas Moura to be given a chance, but that may not provide the solution to Tottenham’s problems either.

Mauricio Pochettino has been reluctant to start the Brazilian so far this campaign, preferring to use the impact of his pace off the bench, providing his attack with a different element when necessary.

It is a strategy which some supporters are confused by, but a look at his expected goals explains the Argentine’s selection, with the £36m-rated Lucas often failing to find the target from chances he should have put away, according to the statistics.

In that regard he is Tottenham’s biggest culprit, and if Spurs are to challenge for the top four Pochettino needs dependable players, hence his frequent omissions from the starting line-up this season, playing just 425 minutes of football.

His pace has its uses, but aside from his stunning hat-trick in the Champions League final, he has often been found wanting in the final third.

Since signing he only has 18 goals and seven assists in 69 appearances for the club, and therefore doesn’t compare with Son or Kane, or with players who play for Spurs’ league rivals.

The positive is that the 27-year-old should know it is an area of weakness in his game, and one which he should work hard on in order to show Pochettino his determination to improve.

Four years ago Manchester United signed Anthony Martial from AS Monaco with his initial fee of £36m making him British football’s most expensive teenager.

Less than a fortnight later the French star made his debut, brought on as a substitute against arch-rivals Liverpool, before going on a weaving run that culminated in Old Trafford erupting in shock and awe. “Forget the second Thierry Henry, this is the first Anthony Martial,” shrieked Martin Tyler in the commentary box, referring to the hype and bluster that accompanied the transfer. “Worth every penny”, he concluded.

Was the veteran broadcaster a touch premature in his assessment? It’s fair to say that he was, because in the seasons since that memorable introduction, the winger has proven himself to be a frustrating talent. A player who only occasionally shows glimpses of the seemingly nonchalant yet explosive ability that prompted the lofty, early comparisons.

In 177 appearances the Parisian has scored 50 goals and provided 30 assists, and there can certainly be an argument that those numbers are acceptable, bordering on impressive. What they mask, however, are too many ineffectual performances that must exasperate both his manager and the fans.

In April, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly singled out Martial after a particularly insipid display, focusing on his attitude and lack of application; this only four months after the player signed a bumper contract extension taking him up to 2024. This summer, meanwhile, former boss Jose Mourinho sharpened his claws, publicly stating Martial was ‘mentally weak’ and that he wanted to sell him during his tumultuous reign.

Reports in recent weeks and months had even suggested Solskjaer’s intention to sell his underwhelming attacker had been thwarted by the club’s board. It very much seemed like 2019/20 would be a continuation of Martial’s time in Manchester. Sometimes he’d be good, most times he would be anonymous.

The off-loading of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez changed all of that however.

Now shorn of options up front, Solskjaer selected Martial in a central attacking role against Chelsea for the Reds’ opening fixture, with Marcus Rashford coming in off the left. Granted, it afforded Jose Mourinho the opportunity to have another pop from the pundit’s chair, but the reshuffling worked a treat. United ran out 4-0 winners with Martial grabbing their second in a role not unfamiliar to him having played there 45 times up to that point, according to Transfermarkt’s record.

An injury that befell the forward after United’s third league game means momentum might now be stalled. However, when the Frenchman returns from his lay-off, he should take solace and encouragement from the way he has started the current campaign. From those trio of games Martial has scored twice and provided an assist too.

Could it be that a revision of his role is resulting in a revision of his circumstances? Could it be that a switch inside was all it needed for the 23-year-old to possess a real purpose at United?

A similar positional change certainly did wonders for another French forward many moons back, but let’s discount that for now.

The lad has already had enough comparisons to Henry to last him a lifetime.

The Spaniard states that he’s ready for the Champions League in his caption, and it’s hard to not believe him.

He’s stepped up to the challenge of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world with relative ease as he’s yet to concede more than one goal in a Premier League game this season.
